Former Manchester City midfielder De Jong was one of several millions of football fans who saw the game which ended in a 2-0 victory for the visitors. Manchester City were dominant from start to finish and they could have easily scored more than the two first half goals recorded. Nigel De Jong was impressed with the performance of Silva whom he described as a workhorse. According to him, the former AS Monaco man is his man-of-the-match, while Spanish midfielder Rodri is not far behind.

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly put through to his own net off the cross from Joao Cancelo to give Manchester City the lead inside the first few minutes. The Red Devils almost took the one-goal deficit to the half-time break, but Silva had other ideas as he pounced on the mistake from the Manchester United pair of left-back Luke Shaw and goalkeeper David De Gea to double the Citizens’ lead on the stroke of half-time. The second City goal from Silva ensured that there was no way back for the Red Devils.

The Manchester Derby win ensured that Manchester City moved within three points of league leaders Chelsea on the log after the pacesetters were surprisingly held at home by Burnley. Chelsea and Burnley played a 1-1 draw as the former failed to take the opportunity of moving five points clear at the Premier League summit.

Manchester City star Silva has two goals in two league games after he scored the third and final goal during the 3-0 home win over Everton on Sunday. The Everton game was on the back of the Manchester Derby.
